GHMC prepares for Haritha Haram

Target is to distribute 5 lakh seedlings

The GHMC has begun the work for the fourth phase of Telangana ku Haritha Haram (TKHH) and started digging works at multiple locations for the plantation.

About 3,60,880 hectares have been identified in 2000 locations across the six zones where the Corporation plans to distribute its target of five lakh seedlings.

Action plan is being prepared to take up massive plantation in the 526 open spaces of GHMC. The GHMC will distribute 35 lakh more saplings to individuals, Resident Welfare Associations, NGOs, for plantation in various areas. Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy has appealed the corporate and private companies to join hands with the GHMC for providing tree guards under corporate social responsibility. Details of specific tree guards, rate and other information can be obtained from the GHMC website.

A total of 95,000 saplings will be planted in L.B. Nagar zone, 65,000 in Charminar, 79,600 in Khairatabad, 85,250 in Serilingampally, 1,01,050 in Kukatpally and 74,100 in Secunderabad zone. The saplings meant to be given away to citizens too have been distributed among the zones.
