As the city prepares to play host to Telangana State formation celebrations, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken up measures to beautify the city streets and set up illumination at different places.
According to the GHMC officials, different road stretches that were in need of minor repair or re-carpeting were being attended to and the footpath edges were being freshly painted with black and white colours. Some key stretches such as those around Nandi Nagar, Banjara Hills, Lake View Guest House and Begumpet were paid special attention apart from the regular works.
Medians attendedThe lawns at different rotaries, medians and along the main stretches were being attended to by the Urban Forestry Wing and trimmed and landscaped appropriately, an official said.
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said some of the important places of the city such as Necklace Road, Gun Park, Clock Tower, Mecca Masjid and others would be illuminated.
“All important buildings and places are being illuminated and it will remain for the next seven days,” he said. The Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department will do the same with other structures such as Legislative Assembly and Charminar.
