Four of a family killed in wall collapse

June 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Four members of a family were killed when the wall of their house collapsed apparently due to incessant rains in Chevella mandal of Ranga Reddy district early on Sunday.

The victims K. Srinivas (30), his wife Lavanya (25), sons Vamshi (8) and Raju (4) were killed on the spot when the wall of their one-room tin shed collapsed when they were asleep, at Tangudipalli village in Chevella mandal. The family was living in the village for the last few years and worked as farm labourers.

On receipt of information, the Chevella police rushed to the spot and removed the bodies. “The house was constructed on loose soil and the wall might have caved in following the rains. Local people told us that the wall had developed cracks over a period of time and the family had planned to take up repairs after the monsoon,” Chevella sub inspector, N Rajasekhar said.

Local public representatives and revenue officials visited the spot. The villagers showed the revenue officials a few more houses that have developed cracks.
