Former Sangareddy MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy on Monday returned to the Congress fold. He joined the party at Gandhi Bhavan here in the presence of Telangana Congress committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, All India Congress Committee secretary Ramachandra Kuntia and others.

Mr. Reddy had left Congress after unsuccessfully contesting the Assembly elections from Sangareddy last year.

He joined the BJP and entered the fray in the Medak Lok Sabha by-election but was defeated.

He started his career as a BJP councillor and went on to become municipal chairman at Sangareddy. He joined TRS and became MLA for the first time in 2004. He left the party to join Congress and became MLA again in 2009.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr. Reddy said he was not sure why he joined the BJP last year. His tongue-lashing and adverse reaction from government employees to his candidature cost him his election last year. He predicted his victory in the 2019 elections and dared the Ministers of TRS to visit Sangareddy henceforth. He also said he would take up protest programmes that would rattle the TRS leadership.

Sangareddy Staff Reporter adds: The supporters of former legislator T. Jayaprakash Reddy held a huge rally to celebrate his return to the Congress fold.
