Minister for Forests and Environment A. Indrakaran Reddy held his first-ever state-level video conference with forest officials on Friday, and urged them to work with commitment to protect forests.

Saying that he would soon visit the districts with high concentration of forests, Mr. Indrakaran Reddy reminded them Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s assurance that he would support the Forest Department in all its measures to protect the forests.

To improve the survival rate of saplings planted under the Haritha Haram scheme, all roads should be lined with saplings on the lines of ORR, he suggested.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) P. K. Jha asked the forest staff to be alert in view of approaching summer months.

He advised the staff to patrol on foot daily so that snares and live wires set up by poachers near water holes may be spotted.
