Force of habit does him in

Burglary committed eight years ago becomes point of reference

January 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Twenty-seven-year-old Gajanand used to break into houses through rear doors and finally, this modus operandi landed him behind bars on Thursday.

The Vanasthalipuram police, investigating into the burglary of a house at Harithapuram Colony committed three weeks ago, found that the offender gained entry by breaking the kitchen door. “It reminded us of a similar house-breaking committed eight years ago. We started verifying thieves entering houses by breaking rear doors,” explained Inspector P. Gopala Krishna Murthy. The needle of suspicion swung towards Gajanand, who burgled a house eight years ago in a similar fashion. Inquiries revealed that he was out on bail. Eventually, he was caught.
