As the flood in the Krishna and its tributaries has started receding, the inflows into Jurala, Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar have also started falling from Saturday noon.

The discharge of flood from the spillway of Srisailam, which was done through 10 crest gates, was gradually reduced during the day by closing down the gates and by 6 pm , he discharge was only through the four gates. Over 1.11 lakh cusecs of flood was being discharge through the four spillway gates at 9 pm in addition to nearly 70,000 cusecs after power generation against the inflows of about 1.45 lakh cusecs.

At Nagarjunasagar, the discharge of flood was increased to over 2.39 lakh cusecs through the spillway by lifting two more crest gates around 10 am on Saturday in addition to 14 already lifted for 10 feet height each. However, fall in the quantum of flood has forced the authorities to close down 10 gates by 9 pm.

At 9 pm on Saturday, the discharge of flood through the 6 spillway gates of Nagarjunasagar was over 89,000 cusecs and another 33,600 cusecs after power generation. Similarly, the inflows into Jurala have also come down below 1.25 lakh cusecs by 6 pm. At 9 pm, the inflows were at 1.2 lakh cusecs.

The discharge of flood at 6 pm on Saturday from Narayanpur was only 2,200 cusecs, from Ujjani it was 6,900 cusecs and from Tungabhadra it was 11,850 cusecs.

Sriramsagar reservoir in the Godavari basin, however, is getting around 46,000 cusecs flood and the storage was about 68 tmc ft against its capacity of 90.31 tmc ft.
