Municipal Commissioner M. Dana Kishore has set the deadline of September 10 for filling the potholes on the city roads, besides covering 87 lane kilometres of road laying.
During a review meeting with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation maintenance wing officials, Mr. Dana Kishore said 200 lane km of road length has been re-carpeted as part of the Periodic Preventive Maintenance so far.
This is against the total 800 lane km planned to be re-carpeted with an expenditure of ₹721 crore.
In view of the oncoming festival season, he asked officials to expedite the work of pothole filling. He asked Chief Engineer Mohammed Ziauddin to purchase an additional 10,000 bags of hot mix for the work, so that the potholes formed by rains can be filled within five to six hours after the rain.
Every ward will be allotted an instant repair team so that the potholes are filled immediately after being detected.
Zonal Commissioners and superintendent engineers too attended the meeting.
In another meeting with Urban Biodiversity officials on Thursday, Mr. Dana Kishore increased the number of saplings to be planted as part of Haritha Haaram by five lakhs.
