The Hyderabad police on Tuesday detained five persons, including two with past criminal record, from Khammam district, for allegedly plotting to kill a person working as the coordinator of a Telugu news channel.

The Commissioner's Task Force officials caught the five suspects on a tip-off. Inquiries suggested that the father-in-law of the coordinator hired the five persons to eliminate his son-in-law. The news channel employee, hailing from Chintakani of Khammam district, married a woman of the same district outside his caste. His wife's father allegedly bore a grudge against him over this and hired the accused persons to kill him. “It seems the co-ordinator's father agreed to pay Rs. 5 lakh to the five persons and paid Rs. 1 lakh as advance,” police sources said.
