Fish prasadam to be administered from June 8

Animal husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav directed officials to make all arrangements for the smooth conduct of distribution of fish ‘prasadam’ at Exhibition Grounds on June 8 and 9.

The distribution is expected to commence at 6 a.m. on June 8 and continue till 6 p.m. the next day. As many as three lakh people are expected to arrive in the city. The Minister accompanied by Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi reviewed the arrangements for the annual event.

The family of Bathini Harinath Goud had been distributing the fish ‘prasadam’ for the the past 173 years and the event witnesses huge turnout of the people not only from within the State, but also from different States across the country. The Minister wanted the officials to ensure that the arrangements this year were better than previous year’s and the departments worked in effective coordination in this regard.

While the officials should make arrangements keeping in view the scorching summer heat, the police department on its part should ensure proper barricading of the premises besides ensuring smooth flow of traffic in and outside the venue. The Government would open a control room to continuously monitor the situation while arrangements would be made to provide adequate number of fish required for the purpose.

Special buses would be arranged from 150 locations across the twin cities to ferry passengers to and from Exhibition Grounds on both days. Effective public address systems would be in place in addition to uninterrupted power supply.
