A set of ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’, a film that has been under production for over a year at the farmhouse of film star Chiranjeevi at Kokapet in Gandipet mandal, was damaged by a fire in the early hours of Friday.

The set, facade of a fort, was made of thermocol and supported by iron rods. A room within the fort wall also made of thermocol was burnt in the accident. None was present at the place when the fire broke out.

Fire officer Jaganmohan Rao, who attended the call, said the fire was a result of electric short circuit. Locals, seeing the fire and thick smoke billowing out of the setting, called up the fire station.

Amitabh Bachchan, who was to make his guest appearance in the shooting on Friday, cancelled his programme.

Chiranjeevi’s son and film director Ram Charan said in a tweet “unfortunately, a fire broke out on our #SyeRaa set in Kokapet earlier this morning. Thankfully, everyone in the team is safe and no one is hurt. We are really looking forward for our last schedule to finish. - Ram Charan”.
