They are all visually impaired children. But on Friday they “watched” movies in the company of their friends and had great fun at school.
This was the scene at Government High School Boys for the Blind, Darulshifa on Friday.
A.P. National Green Corps in association with Children Film Society of India (CFSI) screened two children's films – “Chutkan ki Mahabharat” (Hindi) and “Amulyam (Telugu) on the school premises.
All other children in the city were having good time watching movies at the 17th International Film Festival but it is tough for these children to travel to the venue. Hence, these movies were screened at the school, said Md. Ghouse Pasha, Project Officer, Directorate of Andhra Pradesh National Green Corps.
Audio-visual facility
Children Film Society of India made these films especially for visually impaired children. Apart from audio-visual facility, these films are equipped with narration for the convenience of visually impaired students. Majority of the children here are visually challenged and few are partially challenged, said Mr. Pasha.
Though these children are visually impaired, continuous narration of scenes helps them in understanding the movies and that's how they watch movies.
Entertainment
Besides entertainment, these movies help the children in many ways, explained N. Venkat Ramulu, Head Master of the Government Primary School for the Blind.
“I liked the movie Chutkan ki Mahabharat a lot, particularly the character of Chutkan. It was fun,” said Irfan, a tenth student, while sporting a smile.
