Festive atmosphere to pervade the city during World Telugu Conference

Chief Secretary S.P. Singh reviews arrangements for the event at Secretariat

The World Telugu Conference should be organised in such a way that it should take the eminence of Telugu language and literature to all the corners of the world, said Chief Secretary S.P. Singh here on Saturday.

Mr. Singh reviewed the arrangements at the Secretariat for the prestigious event to be held from December 15 to 19. Cultural Advisor to Government K.V. Ramanachari, World Telugu Conference Organising Committee members and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.

Mr. Singh directed the officials to hold department-wise meetings and formulate action plans for the arrangements in line with the expectations of the Chief Minister. About 5,000 people who include teachers, language pundits, professors, Telugu language lovers, should be invited for the Telugu Conference at Lal Bahadur Stadium and 500 persons from various countries and 1,000 littérateurs and language scholars from various States apart from those in the State should be invited to participate in the conference.

The city should be decked up with floral arrangements by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department and the traffic police should plan traffic bandobust, regulation and route maps as the President of India would be invited for the inaugural and Vice-President or Prime Minister for the valedictory of the conference. Elocution and essay writing competitions should be organised in all the government and private educational institutions and a festive atmosphere should be created in the State. Dr. Ramanachari said the Chief Minister has already launched a website for the conference and the events would be organised in seven different venues. The Labour Department should ensure that all the commercial establishments display their name boards in Telugu.
