The GMR Hyderabad International Airport would soon introduce face recognition-based terminal entry system as it has already conducted trials involving its staff members, said chief executive officer S.G.K. Kishore.

Addressing a gathering after hoisting the national flag on Republic Day, Mr. Kishore highlighted Hyderabad airport’s strong track record in leveraging technology to deliver a better passenger experience.

Expansion work, which is in its second phase, is also under way to take passenger experience to an altogether new level and provide more than double the present annual handling capacity, he said.

He pointed out that there was a robust passenger growth of over 20% every year and said 26 new aircraft parking stands were commissioned for airside capacity enhancement, one of the major recent milestones in the airport’s journey towards expansion.

The CEO also reiterated the airport’s commitment towards environment, that include successfully renewing its Level 3+ carbon neutrality status from Airports Council International for the third time in a row. Robust waste recycling, composting plant and water conservation measures were the other initiatives.

He thanked the CISF, regulatory agencies and all airport stakeholders for working as a team towards enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency.

Chief Airport Security Officer (CASO) and Commandant, CISF Unit, RGIA, Sudhir Kumar, also graced the occasion.
