The Karkhana police on Tuesday arrested an event manager Saurab Gupta, who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman three years ago after offering her a drink laced with sedative and cheated her with false promise of marrying her.
The victim, who is presently living in Dubai, sent a complaint through email to the Chief Minister, DGP and Rachakonda Police Commissioner against Saurab a few days ago. “She saw on youtube that Saurab had married another woman who was the granddaughter of a political leader. Recalling how he allegedly cheated her, the woman sent the complaint,” Karkhana police station Inspector Janaih said.
On receipt of the complaint, the Neredmet police of Rachakonda registered a rape and cheating case. It was transferred to Karkhana on point of jurisdiction. The woman flew back to Hyderabad and the police recorded her statement.
She maintained that after violating her, the accused had taken her to Goa where he married her.
