The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) has seen a whopping 45% rise in the applications for its courses this year with 12,927 candidates registering for the entrance examination.

Last year, a total of 8,617 candidates had applied. The B.A. (Hons) English course received the maximum number of applications of 3,010 followed by MA (English) that saw 2,079 candidates trying their luck. Other courses that received more applications this year include M.A. English Literature (1,513), M.A. Journalism and Mass Communication (542), and PhD English Literature (680). The university has also increased the exam centres from eight to 23 across the country this year. University Vice-Chancellor E. Suresh Kumar said the rise in the number of applications was due to the increase in the number of centres across the country and it was done to attract talented students from all the States.

“It’s a national university and we want it to have a national outlook.” The entrance exams would be held on February 24 and 25 and the results would be declared in April first week.
