Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories chairman Satish Reddy has been appointed president of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) for 2019-2021.

Panacea Biotec Managing Director Rajesh Jain will continue as the vice president. IPA represents 24 research-based pharmaceutical companies that collectively account for over 85% of the private sector investment in pharmaceutical research and development. They contribute more than 80% of the country’s exports of drugs and pharmaceuticals and service over 57% of the domestic market.

At a time when pharmaceutical industry is undergoing a critical phase of growth and development, foresight and acumen of leadership will be of immense value to the IPA. The leadership at IPA will help in unleashing the potential of the pharma industry and strengthen the innovation ecosystem for further growth,” Secretary General Sudarshan Jain said on Thursday in a release announcing the new office-bearers.

This is the second stint for Mr. Reddy in the post as he was president of Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance in 2013-15.
