The MIM MLAs have requested the TRS government to construct the new Secretariat building without disturbing the existing mosques and temples within the present Secretariat complex.

The issue was raised by the MIM MLA Mohd Moazam Khan and others during the Question Hour in the Assembly here on Wednesday.

They also sought to know if the new Secretariat complex was designed without disturbing the religious structures.

Responding to the question, R&B Minister V.Prashanth Reddy said that the government has decided to build a new Secretariat complex and it was examining the report of the Cabinet Sub-Committee. When the MLAs said that the Cabinet committee report along with the technical committee report which examined the Secretariat buildings should be tabled in the House, the Minister said: The matter is sub-judice.

When the MIM members persisted that the two mosques and temple should not be disturbed during the construction, the Minister said their request would be taken to the notice of the government.

Asked about the cost of the proposed new complex, Mr.Prashant Reddy said they could not say till the design and plans were ready.

He, however, assured the members that the new Secretariat complex to be constructed at the existing premises would be completed in one-and-a-half years from the date of commencement of the work.
