Do away with middlemen: CPI

October 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:04 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Communist Party of India has demanded measures from Centre and State governments to control the price of pulses. Farmers of ‘Tur dal’ should be supplied with unadulterated pesticides and fertilizer, and supported by the Dept. of Agriculture and agricultural scientists for increased yield, a press note from the party’s Telangana State Council demanded. In order to facilitate good price, the middlemen should be eliminated, produce should be directly procured from farmers through Marketing Federation, and should be distributed to people through PDS. A fund should be created towards price control of essential commodities, and blackmarketeers should be taken to task, it said. - Staff Reporter
