Discontent out in the open in Congress

Nirudyoga Chaitanya Yatra ends on a sour note

Discontent among Congress leaders was out in the open yet again and the latest one appears to be sparked off by none other than Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy himself.

Senior Congressman from Suryapet, Ramreddy Damodar Reddy and TPCC secretary Patel Ramesh Reddy, who were in the town organising ‘Nirudyoga Chaitanya Yatra’, ended in bitter taste after Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy’s speech.

His confident opinion: “Damodar Reddy will win by a huge margin in 2019” did not go well with the group led by Mr. Ramesh Reddy, another aspirant for the constituency here.

More unrest was evident after Telangana Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav said: “Mr. Damodar Reddy will be the next MLA.”

Post-yatra, Mr. Ramesh Reddy’s group kept itself away from the other major group comprising the senior leaders.

While some expressed dissatisfaction over the TPCC chief’s public statement, others opined that unity in the party is the need of the hour. Interestingly, all the leaders exited in opposite directions.

Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy earlier in the meeting said unemployed youth in State would be given a ₹3,000 allowance if the party comes to power in 2019.

“I have full confidence in the justice system. I am hoping that a right judgement will be delivered,” he said, on the alleged Suryapet Collectorate land scam case, now in court.
