Director-General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy on Tuesday has asked officers to go according to a meticulous plan of action to avoid any untoward incidents in view of the Ganesh immersion scheduled on September 11.
At a video-conference with senior officials, he said the incidents in Adoni would be viewed seriously and wanted no effort to be spared in the effort to maintain communal harmony and peaceful conduct of the Ganesh immersion. He asked for volunteers to be identified for working with police as Peace Committees. He also instructed the officers to guard and follow every Ganesh idol in the procession. They were told to take timely action to control any small incidents with the use of force if necessary, especially on September 7, 9 and 11 when a large number of idols would be immersed and to ensure that there was no outbreak of violence on Friday during prayer time.
