Demand for CBI probe into Miyapur land scam

TRS neck deep in scandals: Mohammed Ali Shabbir

Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the ₹15,000-crore Miyapur land scam was the “mother of all scams” during the three year rule of K. Chandrasekhar Rao and that a free and fair probe by the CBI could help set right the dented image of the government.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was neck deep in scandals like the ‘Note for Vote’, EAMCET paper leak, Alair encounter of Muslim youth, and gangster Nayeem case. Investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department ( CID) and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have only helped corrupt culprits go scot free, Mr. Shabbir alleged.

In such a situation, only a CBI inquiry would nail the culprits of the Miyapur land scam, he said, advising the Chief Minister to follow the footprints of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who, as the Chief Minister, initiated a CBI inquiry on complaints of corruption in the CMO itself .

Mr. Shabbir said the multi-crore land registration scam of Miyapur has exposed the involvement of officials of the CMO and their nexus with land mafia like Goldstone Prasad, who had floated numerous “briefcase companies” to loot prime government land. “Only lower level employees are suspended while those in teh CMO are allowed to go scot free,” he said.
