TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao’s son-in-law Daggubati Venkateswara Rao has announced entry of his son Hitesh Daggubati into YSR Congress soon.

Mr. Venkateswara Rao, accompanied by his son Hitesh Daggubati, called on YSR Congress president and Opposition leader in AP Assembly Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy here on Sunday. The YSRC president along with senior leaders V. Vijaysai Reddy and Y.V. Subba Reddy held discussions with Mr. Rao, co-brother of TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, on the political situation in AP during the close to one hour meeting.

Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Venkateswara Rao, husband of former Union Minister D. Purandeswari who is presently in the manifesto committee of the BJP, said his son Mr. Hitesh would work under the leadership of Mr. Jagan and the YSRC president too had responded positively to their decision to join the party. The decision comes in the light of committed work being done by Mr. Jagan in the interests of the people of the neighbouring State, he said.

He said he was impressed by the way Mr. Jagan was leading the party in spite of the hardships faced since the past few years. Large section of the people were rallying behind the main Opposition for its committed efforts to highlight the problems being faced by the State at all the available forums.

He criticised the manner in which Mr. Chandrababu Naidu was running the administration in AP claiming that the State was suffering with absence of efficient governance. Mr. Naidu was spending huge amounts in the name of his deekshas at a time when the State was highlighting the shortfall of the resources at the national level seeking the Centre’s liberal assistance.

The Government was yet to release the fourth and fifth instalment of the loan waiver promised to farmers in the run up to the previous elections. But, the Chief Minister was trying to hoodwink the people, particularly the self-help group women, by announcing intentions to give post-dated cheques to them.

Coming just a couple of months ahead of the elections to State Assembly and Lok Sabha, the promise was yet another political ploy by Mr. Naidu to attract votes, he said. Replying to queries, he said Ms. Purandeswari would continue in the BJP and she would quit active politics if need be.

“There are no political pressures in this direction as of now. An appropriate decision will be taken if warranted,”he said.
