The grand finale of The Hindu Lit Fest-2018 in association with Vignan University concluded at World One School here on Monday.
A total of 232 finalists from 32 schools in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh competed in the fest, which started on September 27, with competitions in categories including story telling, dramatized book reading, Jataka tales, creative narration, creative writing-autobiography, theatre drama and describing a mythological character.
For the finale, S. Upendran, a professor at English and Foreign Languages University and author of the book ‘Know your English’ attended as chief guest. Platforms should be available to exhibit students’ talent, he said.
Special guest of the day, Vinay Varma of Sutradhar, a city-based theatre group, said students should maintain a human connect even in the digital age. Storyteller Deepa Kiran, who was another guest for the day, labelled storytelling as a ‘serious affair’.
The winners
In the creative narration category, Lakshmi Pranathi of Paramita IIT (Karminagar), Y. Trishitha of St. Gabriel School (Warangal) and P. Sahasra Raj of Visakha Valley School ( Vizag) won the top three spots, in that order.
In creative writing, Syeda Nizarath Fathima of St. Gabriel School (Warangal), P. Chandana of Sri Venkateshwara’s (Guntur) and K. Arya Sri of Paramita IIT (Karminagar) won first, second and third prizes, respectively.
In creative writing (autobiography), Stuti Bagchi of Delhi Public School ( Vijayawada), Aabha Deshmukh of Visakha Valley School (Vizag) and G. Bhanu Prakash of Bomma Brilliant Grammar School (Khammam) were adjudged first, second and third respectively.
Srija Rashmita of Delhi Public School (Vijayawada), Sadhvika of Paramita IIT (Karimnagar) and K. Hasini Reddy of St. Gabriel School (Warangal) won the first three prizes in ‘describing mythological character’ category.
In theatre drama (classes 6 and 7), Manasvini and team of Vignan School, ECIL (Never Never Nest), Aishwarya and team of World One School (Cinderella), and Blessy and team of AP model School, Maryapaka (Merchant of Venice) were declared winners, in that order.
In theatre drama (for classes 8, 9 and 10), Sai Kiran and team of Vidyadhari School, Karimanagar (Tears of Red), Malik Fouzan and Team of Knowledge Park International School, Nizamabad (Corruption or humanity), and Naresh and team of Paramita IIT (Tell me why apple of 5 elements) won the first three prizes.
