Curbs on noise pollution during Ganesh festival

Noise polluting music systems, commonly called DJs, have been banned as part of ensuing Ganesh festivities in Adilabad district. District Superintendent of Police M. Sreenivas said during a peace committee meeting ahead of the start of the community festival.

Releasing a pamphlet brought out by the Police Department containing Dos and Don’ts related with Ganesh festival, the SP said surprise checks will be conducted on Ganesh mandaps in order to effectively control noise pollution. He also asked organisers of festivities to be present while important ceremonies take place.

The meeting, which was attended by office bearers of Adilabad Ganesh Utsav Committee besides representatives of other communities, officers and others, was also informed about the measures being taken by the Police Department. to ensure peace during the festival. Mr. Sreenivas said adequate police bandobast will be made for the event.

The SP also advised women not to wear gold ornaments when they go out to witness the festivities and suggested that they take adequate precautions like covering it up in case they do wear the jewellery.
