CS reviews I-Day arrangements

The State Government has initiated efforts for the successful conduct of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will hoist the tricolour at the historic Golconda fort on the Independence Day. This will be preceded by paying homage to Martyrs’ Memorial at Parade Grounds. Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi reviewed the arrangements that are being made for the Independence Day with senior officials on Monday.

He wanted the officials concerned to take adequate care in view of the ongoing monsoon and recent heavy rains lashing the State. The officials were directed to make lighting arrangements at historic places like Raj Bhavan, Secretariat, Assembly, High Court, Gun Park and Charminar. Adequate security arrangements should be made at Golconda on August 15 along with parking arrangements for the visitors. Officials should ensure barricading of the premises besides putting up sign boards on all the roads leading to the venue, he said.

Arrangements for water supply and uninterrupted power supply should be made at the venue while the State Road Transport Corporation was directed to arrange for mini-buses to transport visitors to and from the venue. Live coverage of the event would be provided by the Information Department and the celebrations would feature cultural performances reflecting the traditions of Telangana. Public address systems and LCD screens would be arranged at important places to enable people view the celebrations, he said.

General Administration Special Chief Secretary Adhar Sinha directed the departments to supervise the arrangements that are being made at the venue, according to an official release.
