Council polls: cases posted to June 2

A Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Justice A. Ramalingeswar Rao and Justice T. Sunil Choudary expressed disinclination to pass any order regarding the process set in motion for electing Members of the Legislative Council, Telangana.

The cases were posted to June 2.

The Bench was dealing with writ petitions filed seeking a direction to see that the MLAs from TDP and Congress who joined the ruling TRS will not be permitted to vote in the polling scheduled for June 1. E. Dayakar Rao of TDP filed a writ petition complaining that Talasani Srinivasa Yadav, Teegala Krishna Reddy, and Dharma Reddy had defected and they should not be permitted to vote. Similarly, Sampath Kumar of Congress filed another writ petition seeking a similar direction against Yadiah, Reddya Naik, Kanakiah and Vittal Reddy.
