All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Ahmed Nagar corporator Ayesha Rubina was in for a shock as she found out that her name from the voter list was deleted.
Speaking to The Hindu , Ms Rubina, who resides in My Home Glory Apartments, a stone’s throw from the Police Officer’s Mess in the same area, said that the names of her husband and mother too have been deleted.
“It is sad that this has happened. There are lot of names which have been deleted. The name of my cousins living in the same building too have been deleted. And the reason shown for deleted is ‘shifted’, meaning that I have moved to another place when it is not the case,” she said.
She pointed out that as many as 6,000 names from Ahmed Nagar division have been deleted from the list. This includes about 60 from the apartment complex in which she resided. “Till yesterday our names were not reinserted,” she said.
When contacted, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation central zone commissioner C. N. Raghu Prasad said that mistakes have happened. However, they are being rectified. “Some of the booth level officers have seen the houses locked which is why they must’ve said that the person has shifted. But this is not the final list and the process is not complete. We have put back her name,” he said.
