Commissioner of Intermediate Education A. Ashok stressed on the need for school principals to be prepared to leverage technology to enable students to have fulfilling careers in the areas where there is an increasing demand in India and across the globe.

New programmes

He was sharing his views after inaugurating the VIT-AP University conclave for principals of Intermediate schools and junior colleges in Hyderabad.

Jeyavelu, dean of VIT-AP School of Business, stated that the varsity is committed to be on the forefront of technical education in India by launching new programmes that are relevant, and that the conclave is part of the initiative to raise awareness.

Technology and human

The day-long discussions centered on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Genomics and many other new technologies that are changing the way we live as well as industries and careers.

Technology will not replace human beings but take over routine, standardised work and human beings will become more relevant in complex problem-solving and contextual decision-making. Speakers at the conclave also felt teaching is seeing increasing demand as a career choice and the next generation will have unprecedented challenges created by technological, socio-cultural and ecological issues.

At the same time, the youth are much more aware of the challenges of the future but they need to be supported by parents, teachers and schools.

Other speakers who shared their expertise and views included Vishwas Anand, Rajiv Noronha, M.P. Ganesh and Naveen Vasudevan.
