Constable’s son killed in hit-and-run

14-year-old victim and friend were walking back home from school

A 14-year-old boy, who was the son of a head constable, was killed and his friend injured on Thursday when a four-wheeler hit them from behind as they were returning home from school after Independence Day celebrations.

Langar Houz police identified the victim as M.A. Azeez Ansari, who was a resident of Rethigalli near Golconda. He was the son of M.A. Qadeer (53), head constable at Saifabad Traffic Police Station. The injured was identified as Mohammed Jasim.

According to the police, the two friends were walking back home from a private school near Nanalnagar Crossroads when the vehicle hit them from behind and sped away.

Both were rushed to a private hospital, where Azeez was declared brought dead. Jasim was said to be out of danger.

Police are tracking the whereabouts of the four-wheeler and its owner. “We are analysing the CCTV footage and will nab the accused soon,” police said.

Langar Houz police booked a case under Section 304 A of the Indian Penal Code.

Man stabbed to death

A 43-year-old government employee was allegedly stabbed to death near Ramaiahguda Dargah in Vikarabad. Police identified the victim as B. Satyanarayana. He worked as a junior assistant at Gurukul School in Balanagar mandal of Mahabubnagar.

The incident took place at 7.40 p.m. on Wednesday. The victim married another woman, who died 12 years ago. His relatives told police they suspect the first wife’s family behind the murder.
