Congress charge

‘TRS reneging on promises made to Muslims’

June 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - HYDERABAD:

TPCC leaders here on Friday criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for not taking a single step towards providing 12 per cent reservation for Muslims as promised. TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka recalled Mr. Rao’s pre-poll promise of providing the said reservations and regretted that a year had passed without any forward movement on them. Stating that non-implementation of the TRS Government’s promise amounts to cheating the Muslim minorities, the senior Congress leaders wished that at least during the holy month of Ramzan, steps be taken to implement them. At a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress leaders recalled that the Chief Minister had said within four months of his party’s ascent to power, he would ensure that his promises, including 12 per cent reservation, taking back possession of encroached lands of the Wakf Board and vesting judicial powers with the Wakf Board would be implemented.
