The District Congress Committee (DCC) leaders, under the aegis of Kisan Congress, staged a dharna in front of RDO office in Manthani town on Tuesday demanding that the government issue pattadar passbooks to farmers by organising grama sabhas at villages.
Manthani legislator D. Sridhar Babu, DCC president Earla Komuraiah, Kisan Congress State chairman M. Aswin Reddy, Kisan Congress State coordinator Sashibushan Kache, former SAAP chairman Makhan Singh Raj Thakur and others participated in the dharna.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to Tahsildar Moinuddin demanding the government to fulfil their charter of demands.
The Congress leaders said though the State government took up land purification work, it did not complete the process and thus failed to provide passbooks to farmers who own land.
They also sought waiver of crop loans in one go in the State.
