Congress alleges corruption in water grid scheme, to file PIL

October 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to file a Public Interest Litigation in the High Court of Judicature of Hyderabad shortly about the alleged corruption in the Telangana Government’s ambitious Watergrid scheme.

“TRS government is violating all standard norms of conceiving and executing the water grid project by allegedly indulging in massive corruption. There is no transparency in the implementation of the scheme,” TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy charged on Thursday.

At a press conference, Mr. Reddy along with party’s chief spokesperson Shravan Dasoju and former MP Mallu Ravi alleged that it was strange that one particular company was being favoured by the Government.

“No body knows what is the actual utility of the project and the detailed project report is not kept in public domain and inaccessible even to opposition parties.

The project value has been escalated by more than 40 per cent,” the Congress leaders alleged.

They questioned why the DPR is not published on the website of the PR department.

They lamented that the even the Panchayat Raj Department officials are not aware of the project design and everything is a closely guarded affair and kept close to the powers that be.

They urged NABARD and HUDCO to be cautious in granting loans as this project has no transparency, full of manipulations and corruption, Mr. Reddy said.
