The Legislative Council commenced its session on Friday amidst protests by the Opposition Congress Party which insisted on adjournment motion to discuss farmers’ issues and staged a walk out when the Chairman Swamy Goud refused to adjourn the Question Hour.

The Chairman told Leader of the Opposition Mohd Ali Shabbir and others that they could raise the issue after the Question Hour. Refusing to budge, the Congress members protested with placards for some time in the podium before staging a walk-out. Later the Question Hour proceeded smoothly with members raising questions about inundation of roads and colonies in the recent rains in the city and utilisation of funds under the SC, ST sub-plans and supply of seeds to farmers, among others.

At the end of the Question Hour, Chairman Swamy Goud announced that the adjournment motion moved by the Leader of Opposition Mohammed Ali Shabbir and others was rejected.

Later the Chairman adjourned the House to Monday.
