March 25, 2017 11:41 pm | Updated 11:42 pm IST - HYDERABAD

Congress MLA from Alampur, Sampath Kumar created flutter in the Assembly on Saturday offering to resign from the Whip position of the party apparently annoyed with the attitude of his party senior leaders during the debate on the Telangana State Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Special Development Fund (Planning, Allocation and Utilisation of Financial Resources) Act, 2017. Mr. Sampath was angry that he was not allowed to speak on the debate and his party leader, K. Jana Reddy and others did not come to his rescue while he pleaded for a chance. He submitted the resignation from Whip position to the Assembly Secretary but was asked to submit it to the Congress Legislature Party (CLP). Since Mr. Jana Reddy was not available the same could not be submitted to him.

Senior Congress leaders tried to comfort him.
