Commodities worth Rs. 16.64 crore seized

Different commodities worth Rs. 16.64 crore were seized by officials of Telangana Vigilance and Enforcement department during raids on seed processing plants and seed dealers conducted across the State on Thursday.

While 32 cases were registered under section 6 (A) of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and Seed Act, 1966, a criminal case under Indian Penal Code was also booked relating to the raids. Telangana V&E Director General T.P. Das, in a press release, stated that the raids brought to the fore unauthorised sale and storage of seed. Some owners of seed processing plants are not maintaining records.
