GHMC will soon undertake inspection of the commercial buildings built on over 1,000 square yards of plot area to re-assess the property tax and levy penalties.

Special task force teams will be constituted to conduct inspection of buildings housing hotels, shopping malls, multiplexes, function halls, private schools and other such establishments, across the six zones, Commissioner M. Dana Kishore announced at a review meeting on Friday.

The inspections have been planned following multiple complaints about discrepancies in property tax assessments and for the construction taken up beyond the permitted extent.

The task forces will be formed for each zone with officials from Town Planning, Revenue and Engineering wings of other zones, to keep the inspections transparent and avoid controversies, a statement informed. The central task force from the GHMC head office will monitor the whole process.

Cases to be slapped

Building owners with large discrepancies between permitted extent and built extent, and considerable gaps in payment of property tax will be slapped with cases, the statement said.

Mr.Dana Kishore also reviewed collection of property tax, pension payments, Swachh Sarvekshan, and other aspects at the review meeting.

He asked the deputy commissioners to take up survey to gather details about senior citizens with eligibility for pension in the Hyderabad district, based on the final electoral rolls prepared in November last year.

Circle-wise lists of persons over 57 years of age, with income less than ₹2 lakh and without any immovable property should be submitted before July 25, he said.

Reviewing the sanitation drive in the city, Mr. Dana Kishore informed over ₹56 lakh has been collected so far by imposing penalty for violation of sanitation regulations.
