Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to hold a meeting with the representatives of the joint action committee of employees, teachers and workers on May 14 to discuss their demands.

The meeting will be preceded by submission of report by the Cabinet sub-committee constituted under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Eatala Rajender comprising ministers K.T. Rama Rao and G. Jagadishwar Reddy on May 11. The Chief Minister is slated to hold discussions with Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi and senior secretaries on the financial and other implications of the demands raised by the employees unions before taking a final call on the recommendations.

The development follows the discussions held by the cabinet sub-committee with the representatives of the Telangana non-gazetted and gazetted officers associations and teachers associations on their demands. The JAC had submitted a charter of 18 demands including constitution of new pay revision commission, the first after the formation of Telangana, restoration of the old pension scheme, policy on general transfers, permanent postings of staff in the newly created districts who were appointed on order-to-serve basis.

The employees requested the government to announce appropriate interim relief till such time the pay revision commission completes its study and submits recommendations. In addition, they wanted the government to take steps to ensure repatriation of employees of Telangana origin who were allotted to AP as part of bifurcation of the staff.
