Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will lay foundation for the ‘Brahman Sadan’ at Gopannapalli here on June 5. The Executive Committee of Telangana Brahmana Welfare Parishad which met here on Friday under the chairmanship of K.V. Ramanachari, Advisor to Government, said a website for the Parishad would be launched on May 9 giving all the details of various welfare schemes. being implemented for poor Brahmin beneficiaries.
Another important measure is to extend health insurance scheme to Brahmin families to avail medical treatment up to Rs.2 lakh. The Parishad would bear 75 per cent of the premium and beneficiary family would pay the balance. It would also help eligible Brahmin families get assistance under the Kalyana Lakshmi and Aasara pension schemes.
Lateraddressing media persons, Mr.Ramanachari, Vice-Chairman V. Jwala Narasimharao, members Puranam Satish and Suvarna Sulochana announced incentives for meritorious students.
Under Sri Saraswathi Vidya Prashasthi scheme, students who scored 90% and above in the SSC and equivalent examination would be given a cash prize of ₹7,500. Similarly, students who scored over 90% in Intermediate, polytechnic would be given ₹10,000.
Brahmin students who scored more than 75% in degree would get ₹15,000, ₹20,000 to those who passed post-graduation with 75% and ₹35,000 to engineering graduates with more than 80% marks.
The Parishad would help Brahmin youth, men and women preparing for Civil Services, Group I, bank and other competitive examinations by reimbursing their coaching fee under Lakshya scheme.
Dr. Ramanachari said that students pursuing higher studies abroad would be given financial assistance of ₹10 lakh for one year course, ₹15 lakh for up to two-year course and ₹20 lakh for longer duration course under the Vivekananda Overseas Education Scholarship scheme.
The Parishad would extend financial assistance to Vedic schools to encourage learning of Vedas and give a stipend of ₹500 to poor students and a honorarium of ₹2,500 to Vedic and Sanskrit scholars aged above 75 years. It resolved to extend assistance to Brahmin girls to join traditional schools to be set up by Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham in Hyderabad.
