Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has directed the officials to order a comprehensive probe into the Bodhan scam where hundreds of crores of Commercial Tax payments were compromised due to connivance of various players, including Commercial Tax Department employees.

Directing the officials to take stringent action against those who issued forged manual chalans, Chief Minister also wanted them to examine whether there was any scope for Bodhan type incident recurring elsewhere in the State.

Mr. Rao held a review meeting on Commercial Taxes department at Pragathi Bhavan here on Tuesday.

Transfer officials

He asked Principal Secretary Somesh Kumar to transfer the officials working in Commercial Taxes and Stamps and Registration departments in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts who were continuing in their posts for a long time. No erring official should be spared, he made it clear.

Commercial Taxes Department was the major revenue grosser for the State and if corruption was not rooted out in the department, the benefit of forming a separate State would lose its purpose if government revenue was was siphoned off by some culprits, he said. The department should chalk out a plan to become the best in the country, he said.
