The Nehru Zoological Park has made arrangements for the fauna to withstand the harsh winter.
Room heaters have been arranged in the night houses of big cats such as tiger, jaguar, leopard, lion, and also the primates such as sacred baboon, olive baboon, chimpanzee and lion tailed macaque.
Carnivore night houses have been covered with gunny bags to avoid wintry winds while the avian night houses have been covered with 50% top level green cloth, besides being provided with nest boxes.
The mouse deer breeding centre has been covered with green cloth, and the animals have been provided dry paddy straw to roost in.
The inmates are also being given Vitamin B-Complex supplements to deal with stress.
