Gachibowli police registered a cheating case against the makers of “Bigil” and Akhilesh Paul, on whose life the film was made.

The case was booked following a complaint by city-based filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar (29) from Kondapur, who told the police that he had purchased the life story rights from Mr. Paul after paying a royalty of ₹5 lakh in advance. “Mr. Paul breached the contract and sold the movie rights to others and the film was released in multiple languages,” he alleged. The movie starring C. Joseph Vijay and Nayantara was released in Telugu with the title ‘Whistle’.
