Central Orthodox Convention from today

The annual Hyderabad Central Orthodox Convention will be held from Thursday, October 2 to 4, at St. Gregorios Orthodox Cathedral, Gandhinagar. Bishop Dr. Abraham Mar Seraphim Metropolitan of the Bangalore diocese will inaugurate the convention at 7.15 p.m. on Friday. This year’s main speaker is Rev. Fr. Thomas Amayil, professor of the Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kottayam.

The convention is jointly organised by all four Orthodox churches in the city -- St. Andrews Valiapally, Secunderabad; St. Mary's Church, Ramachandrapuram; and St. George Church, Jeedimetla; apart from the host Cathedral.

A number of meetings of various spiritual organisations and for various age groups such as youth, elders and senior citizens, young couples and women are also being organised , according to Rev. Fr. Koshy Thomas, vice-president of the convention.

The concluding meeting will be held after Holy Mass conducted by the bishop on Sunday.
