Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister on Haritha Haaram programme, Priyanka Varghese has asked HMDA officials to carry out plantation on the entire stretch of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) as the laying of the road was completed on Tuesday with the inauguration of Medchal interchange.

At a review meeting on Tuesday, she asked officials to ensure completion of plantation by the year-end. The medians, service roads and interchanges should also have plants, she said, adding that during the coming Haritha Haaram season, counters should be arranged at the out-points of the toll gates for distribution of saplings. The proposal should also be examined for permanent counters. She also asked officials to install boards with environmental awareness messages, apart from the regular sign boards of the Haritha Haram programme. The companies and organisations along the ORR may be encouraged to adopt parts of the stretches as part of their social responsibility initiatives, she said.
