Writer, poet and lyricist, and Jnanpeeth award winner, C. Narayana Reddy has been chosen for the “Visishta Puraskaram” of the Potti Sriramulu Telugu University (PSTU) for the year 2011.
The PSTU Vice-Chancellor Elluri Shiva Reddy said that an expert committee had cleared the name of Dr. Narayan Reddy for the award for his achievements in the field of literature and culture for the past 50 years. The award that comprises Rs. one lakh in cash will be presented to him at the 27 Convocation Day on December 2 at the university campus.
Prof. Reddy said that several other figures in literature, music, poetry, writing and research will also be honoured with the “Pratibha Puraskarams”. They include Jukanti Jagannadham, K. Lingamurthy, S. Vanidevi, R. Mallikarjun, Kanchanamala, Ivaturi Vijayeshwara Rao, Veeraji, B.C. Krishna, Mothe Gouramma, Vaddiparthi Padmakar, T. Janaki and Chilukuri Devaputra. They will be given a cash award each of Rs. 21,116 and a citation each.
