A day after releasing its second list of nominees for Assembly constituencies in Nalgonda, the Bahujan Left Front, supported by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), launched election campaign on Saturday.

The Front declared Mr. Akkenapalli Meenaiah, a retired lecturer, for Nalgonda, Ms. Sowjanya, an educationist, for Nagarajunasagar, Mr. Palvai Nagesh for Thungathurthy and Mr Mallesh Yadav for Bhongir.

The BLF would extend its support to expelled Telugu Desam Party leader Mothkupalli Narsimhulu, who is contesting as an independent candidate from Aler.

At a rally, BLF senior leader Julakanti Rangareddy said the early dissolution of the Assembly still remained unanswered.

“None of the promises made by the TRS has been kept. In Nalgonda, the problem of fluorosis was not addressed while SLBC works and 2BHK housing were failures,” he said.

Party candidate A. Meenaiah said the long-pending underground drainage system in Nalgonda was a priority. It would be listed in their manifesto, he said.

“I will also fight for unemployed youth, will address issues of workers and pensioners, and work for regularisation of contract and outsourced employees,” he said.

The leaders said a ‘bahujan Telangana’ and political power to ‘bahujans’ were their aim. Party’s candidates for other constituencies also launched their campaign.
