TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said BJP’s weakness would be exposed in the Municipal elections and their claim of increasing support base in the State was just a farce as was proved in the recent local body elections where the TRS won all the 32 ZP chairmen posts.
Their ‘inflated growth’ after winning four Parliament seats was burst in the local body elections, he said adding that the BJP doesn’t even have candidates to field.
“We will sweep the polls and it was for the Congress and BJP to fight for second spot,” he said in an informal chat with reporters here.He refused to comment on Telangana issues figuring in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly sessions saying TRS doesn’t have any interest in AP issues.
Mr. Rao didn’t want to comment on the construction of new Secretariat and Assembly citing the matter being in the court but said there was nothing wrong if modern constructions were taken up.
Mr. Rama Rao hoped that the new Municipal Act will erase corruption and make people’s life easier.
It would also strengthen the party’s chances in sweeping the municipal elections as well given the democratic rights extended to the people in the Act.
