The bio-remediation work to clean up the Hussainsagar Lake will begin soon as the tenders have been finalised, and a Bengaluru-based agency has been chosen for the implementation.
Tenders have been called for the remediation work to address the stench emanating from the lake, owing to the sewage and pollutants being let into the lake from two nalas.
Effluents from both the nalas had to be diverted to the lake due to the long-drawn repair work to the sewerage lines by the HMWSSB on the NTR Marg.
A total of eight agencies responded to the global tenders, of which five have been zeroed in after technical scrutiny. The lowest bidder quoting ₹3.22 crore for the coming year has been selected.
However, the project will be approved initially only for six months at a cost of ₹1.61 crore, and extended for six more months if the work is satisfactory, a press release from HMDA said.
