It is a curious case of employer approaching the police claiming his worker has gone missing even as the latter was attending office regularly! Regonda Bhaskar, one of the four employees of IT Grids (India) Pvt. Ltd. accused of involvement in the sensational 'data breach' case, had been attending to his work in his office at Ayyappa Society in Madhapur, say the investigators.
Five days ago, the company's director Ashok Dakavaram approached the Pedakakani police in Guntur district alleging that Bhaskar had come from Hyderabad to meet him on February 28. “He had returned to Hyderabad the same day (February 28). However, he didn't reach his home in Hyderabad,” Madhapur police quoted Ashok as saying.
Pedakakani SI J. Anuradha registered a case of missing person based on Ashok's complaint around 5.30 p.m. on March 2. In the next four hours, a special police party from Guntur came to Hyderabad to trace him. “This is a very peculiar case. The employer, who is wanted in the data breach case, lodges a missing complaint of his employee, while the latter was regularly marked biometric attendance at their office in Ayyappa society,” a police officer unwilling to be named said.
Investigators claimed that they have video footage record showing Bhaskar entering and exiting the office.
This would help in proving that Bhaskar was not missing and that Ashok had lodged a false complaint, maintain Madhapur police. Ashok filed a habeas corpus petition in Telangana High Court on Sunday alleging that four of his colleagues were illegally detained by the Cyberabad police. Following the court’s direction, the police produced the four before a division bench.
