Enveloped by the sparkle of multi-coloured bulbs, the historic Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam has been tastefully spruced up for the Vaikuntha (Mukkoti) Ekadasi festival slated for December 18.

The temple town witnessed intermittent showers on Sunday under the influence of cyclone Phethai, which is expected to cross the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh coast on Monday. The cyclone is likely to trigger light rains in most parts of Bhadrachalam Agency bordering Andhra Pradesh, sources said.

The inclement weather conditions prevailing in and around Bhadrachalam cast a shadow on Teppotsavam (float festival) to be held in Godavari river in the temple town on Monday evening.

The boat meant for Teppotsavam has been colourfully decorated in swan shape for the grand annual fete.

Arrangements have been made to deploy at least a dozen swimmers, adequate number of fire brigade personnel and a few small boats at the main bathing ghat on the banks of the Godavari to ensure smooth conduct of Teppotsavam.

The historic temple popularly called Bhadradri has attained a resplendent glow of multicoloured bulbs ahead of Vaikuntha (Mukkoti) Dwara Darshanam event to be held on the northern entrance side of the temple in the early hours of Tuesday.
